Friday, 03/28 @ CGSA
Friday, March 28, 2008, 09:45 AM - Friday Meetings
We will all gather together to talk and enjoy refreshments between 6:30 and 6:45, and at about 6:45, we will quiet our hearts, and prepare ourselves to worship God, and learn more about His plan for our lives.

THINKING, SPEAKING, & ACTING POLITICALLY: Our own Bob Trube will be introducing the theme of Politics with examining in general the way in which Christians do and should talk, think, and act politically. We are supposed to share the Truth in love, but what about when political perspectives conflict? How involved should we be in politics, and what does Scripture say about the proper way to interact with the State in terms of activism and on the issues? This introduction will help frame and direct these questions.

Bob Trube has been with Graduate & Faculty Ministries, and has been mentor, adviser, spiritual leader, and friend to CGSA since its inception. Bob holds an A.B. in Psychology from Youngstown State University and an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Ashland Theological Seminary, where he has also served as adjunct faculty.

Bob, lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Marilyn, and son, Ben.

TIME AND PLACE: Our meetings are at 6:30 pm in the Royer Student Activity Center. You can find it on the campus map at www.osu.edu/map/ Royer is located next to Jones Graduate Tower. Go into the building through the left of the two front entrances. At the top of the steps you will see a room to your right. That's where we'll be.

After the meeting, we will go out to a restaurant chosen from a poll in Yahoo groups, and revealed at the beginning of the meeting. To join this group, so that you can vote, or for more information about CGSA and its activities this quarter, please go to http://www.osu-cgsa.org/

OUTREACH/MISSIONS/CHARITY: Being involved politically is important, but besides the single votes we will cast, and the activism for candidates/issues we may be involved in, it is exceptionally important, as Christians, to be involved in our local communities, especially the parts of our communities that are struggling, and desparately need our presence and involvement. In this vein, Chris Orban, our director of Outreach and Missions, has created a wonderful webpage for CGSA, showing anyone interested (and everyone should be
interested) what they can do to help out in Weinland Park and in other areas, and where they can go to do so. The URL is http://www.osu-cgsa.org/index.php?fusea ... ortunities
and it can be found from the main website, listed above.

THE POLITICS BOX: Thank you, Luke, for organizing and using the Politics Box. Thanks also to everyone who voted. Your suggestions have determined the topics for this quarter.

New Service Website
Saturday, March 1, 2008, 02:35 PM
The CGSA service webpage has been updated with a list of service
opportunities in Weinland Park - a neighborhood right next to campus -
as well as other service opportunities in the wider Columbus area.
There is also a convenient Google map on the site showing where
exactly the service sites are. Here's the new page.

In the past we've had coordinated service projects over spring
break, which won't be the case for the spring break coming up, but if
you are staying in Columbus over spring break I would encourage you to
spend a day or a few hours in service. There's lots of opportunities
to help out and I hope that if you're not already involved somewhere
that the new service site will make it easier figure that out.

If you have any questions or need any advice on such topics feel
free to contact Chris by e-mail (chrisorban@yahoo.com).
